LATEST UPDATE: MAY 13, 2008 - Radio host MARK C. DEREN is just back from a roadtrip to the majestic, snow covered mountains of southern NORWAY. Mark comes from a small town in PENNSYLVANIA called HOLLAND (near PHILADELPHIA). For the past 15 years, he's been residing in the real HOLLAND. In his weekly two-hour music radio show, Mark has INTERVIEWED a large number of WORLD FAMOUS MUSICIANS, like Keith Emerson (EMERSON, LAKE AND PALMER), Steve Hackett (GENESIS), Andrew Latimer (CAMEL), Patrick Moraz (YES), Ian Anderson (JETHRO TULL), and Roger Hodgson (SUPERTRAMP) live "ON-THE-AIR" (see "Interviews"). Mark was featured on page 5 of Holland's largest daily newspaper, "DE TELEGRAAF" (circulation 850,000), as well as on Dutch television (RTV NOORDHOLLAND): www.youtube.com/watch?v=VBrSvOr1Iyk. He also appeared on the FRONT PAGE of the NOORDHOLLANDS DAGBLAD (circulation 150,000). Last year, the DJ/WORLD TRAVELER visited HELSINKI, FINLAND, TALLINN, ESTONIA, and LONDON, ENGLAND. In all, he has been to more than 40 countries on SIX CONTINENTS (see "Photo Book"). His first INTERNATIONAL trip was to AUSTRALIA and NEW ZEALAND. He was 18 years-old. On this great adventure, he hitch-hiked roughly 12,500 miles (20,000 KM) over a seven month period. Two years later, he hitch-hiked across ALASKA to camp on the KODIAK ISLAND NATIONAL WILDLIFE REFUGE. Mark earned an athletic scholarship to RIDER UNIVERSITY in NEW JERSEY. He received a B.A. in JOURNALISM. He also became a NJ COLLEGIATE SPRINGBOARD DIVING CHAMPION. After his formal schooling, he met a number of "HEADS OF STATE" as BUSINESS MANAGER to WORLD RENOWNED PALM BEACH, FLORIDA portrait painter RALPH WOLFE COWAN (see "Business"). Since 1993, Mark has worked at the SWIM & SPORT COMPLEX "DE WATERAKKERS" in HEEMSKERK on the NORTH SEA COAST 35 minutes northwest of AMSTERDAM (www.waterakkers.sportfondsen.nl). The popular NETHERLANDS based radio program airs every SUNDAY NIGHT between 9:00 PM and 11:00 PM (Dutch Local Time) on 104.5 Mhz (cable) and 107.4 FM (Stereo) to a listener range population of several hundred thousand people in the Province of NORTH HOLLAND.
